Music has been a very important part of my life since my music teacher suggested I take up an instrument. So in October of 1990 I started the Clarinet (a Yamaha 26B), which has seen me through all kinds of school concerts and then three performances with the Archway Theatre: Oliver, Dick Whittington and Cabaret. The last was the most challenging but also the most satisfying.

During Sixth form I decided to start the guitar, and then moved to bass when I went to University, It’s a Tanglewood Rebel, a sweet little four string that’s lighter than many guitars! The mix of Precision and Jazz style pickups offers plenty of tones although it does suffer from being rather headstock heavy. Looping the strap through a belt seems to solve that problem.

Guitar-wise I use a Squier Jaggmaster and an acoustic with a sound hole pickup.

Just lately I’ve been getting into the ukulele. It might sound silly, but it’s a really fun instrument and great for relaxing with.
